German minority

in Denmark

We combine the best of two worlds

The German minority in North Schleswig has existed since the referendum in 1920 and today includes around 15.000 members out of a total population of 250.000 in North Schleswig. We run our own kindergartens, schools and libraries, do church and social work, have a German media house and offer sporting and cultural activities in many clubs. We maintain a good and trusting relationship with the Danish majority population and see ourselves as bridge builders between Germans and Danes. We contribute to the cultural and linguistic diversity of the German-Danish borderland.
